Industrial Ambrosia Maple Coffee Table

The legs started off as 1950's era angled steel I cleaned up, leaving the natural pitting intact:
This shows the process of ebonizing the wood on the lower shelf of the table. This is the same process and same wood as the table top.  The only difference is that the top was finished in hand-rubbed glossy varnish, but the lower shelf was finished in a semigloss lacquer clearcoat
