Mahogany Slab Table

This bookmatched Mahogany slab table started out as a natural-edge reclaim plank.
 Bookmatching:
 After jointing and initial sanding:

 First coat of hand-rubbed varnish:
Wet-sanded by hand between coats: 
The final gloss result of the slab:
I made the base out of an old piece of concrete block-making machinery:

 I did welded on some additional supports and sanded off the rust, leaving the pitting, which you can still see after I finished it in black tinted, glossy clearcoat.
 The final:
 This table now lives in Marietta, Georgia.
